The donation of blood can be life-saving for patients with a variety of conditions. Blood is made up of four main components: red blood cells, platelets, plasma and white blood cells.
OneBlood is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community asset responsible for providing whole blood and blood components to the following local hospitals and their patients: Tradition Medical Center, St. Lucie Medical Center, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Martin Memorial Medical Center, and Jupiter Medical Center. Without blood, there is no life. The blood circulates through the body and transports nutrients and oxygen to all cells. When it is lost, death takes place. This is the basis of transfusion medicine and the medical science of blood donation.
