Within the past week, I found out that St. Lucie County School Board is thinking about opening a vacant building on South 12th Street in Fort Pierce. The District has owned this building for many years; most recently it was part of a school called "Fort Pierce Magnet School of the Arts," but previous to that it was part of the District's Administrative Offices. For the most part during those decades, the District has chosen to keep that particular building vacant.
Now, however, the District plans to re-open the renovated building and use it for its classrooms in the newly-named "Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie," or CAST. Children in grades kindergarten through 8 will be housed in classrooms that overlook the only abortion clinic in the four-county area, A Woman's World Medical Center, whose property is only 23 yards from the property of CAST.
In mid-May, I composed a letter that I will present to the Superintendent of Schools on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Pastors of four of our of our local Catholic parishes have signed this letter alongside my name, and several other priests, deacons, ministers, and directors of pro-life and religious ministries as well as several precinct captains and Republican political leaders from St. Lucie County have shown their support by signing it, too.

Finally, I invite all of you to attend the last School Board meeting of the school year on Tuesday, June 11, to show our opposition and hold the Superintendent and Board Members accountable. More details about the School Board Meeting will follow. If you would like to have your name included on the Respect Life email list, contact me in the comments below.
Thank you once again for getting involved and for advancing a pro-life culture!

SUPERINTENDENT'S and BOARD MEMBERS' ADDRESSES Wayne.Gent@stlucieschools.org Deborah.Hawley@stlucieschools.org Donna.Mills@stlucieschools.org Troy.Ingersoll@stlucieschools.org Carol.Hilson@stlucieschools.org Katherine.Hensley@stlucieschools.org | Dear Superintendent Gent and St. Lucie County School Board Members, I think expanding the school "Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie," or CAST, to include using a building directly across the street from "A Woman's World Medical Center" (an active surgical abortion clinic with a lot of police activity and criminal owners) is dangerous and detrimental to the very young children who attend CAST. Please do not do this. I also know School Board Members Kathryn Hensley and Carol Hilson are up for re-election and will vote accordingly. Sincerely, |
