☩Conversion & Reversion:
Order & Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2022-2023 JOURNEY IS ONGOING (CLASSES BEGIN AUGUST 2022)
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process that guides adults into the Catholic faith. It is primarily for adults experiencing a conversion and seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church, but it is also ideal for people who have been baptized but have not received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Catholic Church encourages an ongoing conversion to Jesus Christ and warmly welcomes new members. We provide an appropriate spiritual formation according to each person's need.
Modeled after the Catechumenate of the early church, the Order, culminating in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), consists of three periods: awakening, growth, and formation. It takes the distinctive history and spiritual needs of each person into account. There is a structure for the proclamation of the Gospel; catechesis (passing on the teaching of the Church); public and private prayer as well as spiritual direction; the observance of feasts, fasts, Sundays, and seasons of the Church calendar; and direct contact with the members of the parish community and participation in the work of the Church for justice and peace. The process is marked by liturgical rites in the presence of the whole community.
The Church wants to share its life with new members and offers them support and encouragement. The parish provides sponsors who can serve as spiritual companions for those who desire to become members of the Catholic Church. Through the various rites of the Catechumenate, the Church marks a person's journey to full membership. These rites reflect his or her spiritual growth and the loving concern of the community.
How long does it take?
Christian Initiation is not a "program." It's the Church's way of ministering sensitively to those who seek membership. For that reason, some people may need more time than others to prepare for the lifetime commitment that comes with membership in the Catholic Church. The usual length of preparation is one year. For those already baptized and who seek full communion in the Church the time may also vary.
The group meets weekly to reflect upon and apply the Scripture readings from Sunday's Mass as well as to learn the fundamentals of the Catholic faith through discussion and serious study. This ministry meets weekly in the Parish Hall, from August through May.
What is the first step?
Anyone seriously thinking about becoming a Catholic or would simply like more information, please contact Ms. Bonita Lay at 335-2385, extension 1024.

☩School of Christian Formation
The Diocesan "School of Christian Formation/La Escuela de Formación" Classes are in session!
REGISTRATION FOR THE 2022-2023 COURSES IS ONGOING
The United States Catholic Council of Bishops met in 1999 for the purpose of forming a pastoral plan that addresses adult faith formation because they found through dialogue with the laity a "widespread spiritual hunger" within society. In order to bring adult faith formation to the Diocese of Palm Beach, the Diocesan School of Christian Formation was started – first within the Hispanic community and later in the English speaking community. The school’s four goals are:
• To nourish and challenge Catholics with a deeper personal understanding of their faith tradition
• To enable participants to bring this experience to their families, friends, places of work and ministry
• To explore the Catholic tradition from our local context as a diverse Church with members of different cultural backgrounds and with varying ministerial needs
• To situate our experience of faith, church, and ministry in light of the teachings and documents of Vatican II
The School offers a series of classes within a 3-year program. Adults who wish to learn more about the rich tradition of their faith may study simply for enrichment, or they may earn certification:
Parish Catechists may earn Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Certification.
Teachers at Diocesan schools may earn Level 2 and 3 Certification.
Pastoral Ministers may earn the Agent of Evangelization Certification.
The 3-year program proceeds as follows:
Year One "Knowing Our Faith" courses: Introduction to the Bible, Old Testament, New Testament, Christology

Dr. Jack Mitchell is now teaching History of the Church every Thursday night in the Parish Hall at 7:00pm. Learn about our Christian history and the origins of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church was established by Christ when He gave direction to the Apostle Peter as the head of the church. As you explore salvation history from its beginning in Genesis through the coming of Christ and the establishment of the Catholic Church, you will see how God's loving plan for humanity has unfolded, resulting in a greater love for God and a deeper appreciation for your faith.
This kind of faith formation for adults is an exploration of the Scriptures, their historical background and significance, inspirational base, and practical application for daily life. All are welcome. Check the parish bulletin for details and times of upcoming studies.

The Great Adventure Bible Study: the Book of Genesis through the Acts of the Apostles
2017-2018
The Bible is at the heart of our Catholic faith--and our relationship with God. It is the living Word of God, where our Father meets with us and lovingly speaks to us. Reading the Bible should bring us closer to Christ, but understanding it is not always easy. Many people tell us they have tried time and again to prayerfully read Scripture, but they get frustrated.
The Great Adventure Bible Study is designed so that anyone can make sense of the Bible and experience the life-changing power of God's concept that there is a story running through the seventy-three books of the Bible that ties all, of Scripture together and makes sense, not just of the Bible, but of our lives as well.
In this course, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the plan of God in our lives, who we are, why we are here, and what we were made for. It tells us that God is, that He loves us, and how He has acted through the ages so we can get from here to Him.
You are all invited into a transformative encounter with Jesus Christ! Our first class is on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 9:00AM in the Community Room, located inside our Parish Hall. We will continue to meet in the Community Room on Tuesdays at 9 until the course ends on March 20, 2018.

What is "Covenant"? Scripture Study & Examination of the Last Supper CLASS IS SCHEDULED FOR 2PM ON FEB 20, 2022
2015, 2016, 2018, 2022
This one-day, two-hour study reviews one concept, but it is the concept that will help you more deeply understand several stories in the Bible and what Jesus's death and resurrection mean for us. At the end of these two hours, you will deeply comprehend the meaning of covenant, which will enable you to see how the Old Testament events of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Jacob's Joseph, and David foreshadow the New Testament events of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even more, by gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to have covenant, you will understand the significance of Jesus saying, "I thirst" just before He died, and you will have a greater appreciation and understanding of the Mass' Eucharistic Prayer. Part of your learning experience includes an explanation of the Jewish Seder meal, the meal Jesus celebrated with His 12 Apostles, His Last Supper. This very popular and well attended study is offered once a year during Lent, one session for adults and another for teens in grades 7, 8 and 9. Holy Family's Knight Joe Prestianni researched, designed, and presents this dynamic presentation, and his fellow Knights of Columbus Council 12159 host the study in the Parish Hall. You will learn more than you expect in these two hours!

☩Theology of the Body
COURSE IS COMPLETED
Holy Family Catholic Church regularly presents all levels of Theology of the Body, Saint Pope John Paul II's major work. In it, John Paul explores the purpose of our existence and presents the Catholic Church's teaching on love and sexuality in a way that makes sense to modern man. As a person with a body and a soul made in the image and likeness of God, we find the meaning of life through finding out what it means to image God and what our bodies have to do with it.
Based on Saint John Paul II’s revolutionary teaching, this study is designed to give you a solid understanding of God’s plan for humanity - a plan stamped right into our bodies.
Participants will:
To participate as a student or to help facilitate classes, contact Deacon Bob in the Parish Office (772-335-2385) or attend a current class. Classes are always announced in the bulletin.
