an arts ministry for Catholic teens who are high-achieving in any of the performing or studio arts and highly committed to developing their God-given talents. Members study Scripture with the challenge of interpreting it in their chosen art form while collaborating on group projects and giving meaningful feedback to each other. Interested teens meeting these criteria from any Catholic parish in the Diocese of Palm Beach are invited to attend. While members do not have be parishioners at Holy Family, stewardship in the form using time and talent to provide meaningful arts experiences for Holy Family parishioners is expected.
On Easter Sunday, April 4, 1999, Pope John Paul II wrote an open letter to all artists -- both Christian and secular -- reminding them of their vocation to Beauty. He urged them not to waste their artistic talent but to develop it, and to put it at the service of humanity as an authentic vehicle of culture.
LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS
POPE JOHN PAUL II
TO ARTISTS
1999
To all who are passionately dedicated
to the search for new “epiphanies” of beauty
so that through their creative work as artists
they may offer these as gifts to the world.
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Gn 1:31)

The following is an online tribute to Pope John Paul II's "Letter to Artists", as read by students at John Paul the Great Catholic University, located in San Diego, California. Please note that this is a 3-minute summary of a rich, 6,000-word (15-page) letter. Most of the lines these students speak are direct quotes, but some are paraphrased, inferred, or rearranged; their creative presentation still retains the message of the original letter.
Opening Prayer for Weekly Meetings
Heavenly Father, we know that You are always watching and listening from Your throne above. We thank You for the gifts that you have granted us. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us always remember that our talents are a reflection of Your greatness, and are to be used to always glorify Your Holy Name, and are only to be used to serve You. Let our talents also be a witness to Your majesty and love. We ask and say all these things through Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
