Hello Families and Catechists,
I hope you are doing well! All staff here at Holy Family and our relatives are doing well. Thank you for the prayers and well-wishes I see from you on our parish Facebook Page. Please know that I pray for you all at 8:30 every day. I'm just checking in with some actual news. Movement is happening!! and I want to make sure you are kept up-to-date. Just to enumerate the big items:
Christ and His angels and saints protect you! Sincerely yours in Christ, Mary Acevedo Director of Religious Education Dear First Communicants, Parents, and Friends,
We have really missed you! Really, we have. You guys make a lot of noise in the poor acoustics of the Parish Hall, sometimes you put your heads down on the desks because you are sooooo tired after a long day at school, sometimes you forget and break the no-running rule. We miss all that craziness and we miss you. We are also so proud of you. We know that you've been put into an unexpected challenge, but you've done it! You are so close to the end of your obligations-- only 14 more days of online schooling before summer break finally happens. Thank you for doing your best to focus on meeting your school obligations so that you obey and please your family and teachers. Your obedience has helped your parents and teachers in ways you might not understand right now. Thank you. So now it's time to think about First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. You worked so hard in the past two years, coming to class every week, learning about the members of the Blessed Trinity and the members of the Holy Family, forming a relationship with Jesus. We are so excited to finally celebrate your growth. Please take out your calendars and note these dates and times: Friday, May 29, 5:15pm - ? is rehearsal in the main church.
Saturday, May 30, 8:30am - 12:15pm is retreat in the Parish Hall.
Friday, June 5, 5:15pm - ? is Sacrament of First Reconciliation in the main church.
Sunday, June 7, 3:00pm is Sacrament of First Holy Communion in the main church.
I will call each of your families this week and next. Please be ready to discuss your willingness to participate in these group activities.
I'm excited to see you again! Mrs. Mary Acevedo, M.Ed. Director of Religious Education PS: Please read the entire HOME page on Holy Family's website. Weekday and Sunday Masses are resuming, but some Mass times have been eliminated. The Sacrament of Reconciliation time and place has also been modified. Please also understand that the Bishop's decision to excuse Mass attendance still continues, so no one is obligated to go to Mass right now. Remember you can always watch Mass, give your donations, and check the bulletin on our LIVE page. Holy Family is also active on Facebook (where our handle is @HolyFamilyCCPSLFL and our page is available to all) and myParish app (where our nickname is "Holy Family PSL"). **Distribute the invitation to 4 families you recognize but do not know really well in our parish by March 31.
--------Anyone who missed the meeting will have to pick up their invitations. Mary and Kelly are in the office Mon, Thurs, Fri 8:30-4:30 (closed for lunch, please call before coming in 337-4313). If you need to pick them up during class time, you will need to come in BEFORE 5:00PM OR AFTER 6:40PM on class days. You will be asked to wait until all students and parents are out of the building after class. **Make note of dates and times of upcoming events. Attendance at all of these events is required and mandatory.

The Parish community loves to see this, and parishioners will often make a positive comment, give encouragement and congratulations, and pray for your child and you. Wearing the communion outfit through May is a beautiful gift for everyone. **The day after receiving First Holy Communion, your child is eligible to be an Altar Server. Please talk to your child about this ministry, and if he or she is interested in joining, contact Mary. The option to join is always open, even if your child does not want to join right away. **If you don't want to keep your child's outfit as a keepsake, please consider donating it to our Program. We have some families in need who will benefit from your gift. If you use a suit or dress from our collection, there is no need to return it if you want to keep it as a keepsake. If you choose to donate or return, please clean the garments; we have no washing machine on premises to do that. Thank you! "Donum Talenti" is an arts ministry for Catholic teens who are high-achieving in any of the performing or studio arts and who are highly committed to developing their God-given talents. Members study Scripture with the challenge of interpreting it in their chosen art form while collaborating on group projects and giving meaningful feedback to each other. Interested teens meeting these criteria from any Catholic parish in the Diocese of Palm Beach are invited to attend. While members do not have be parishioners at Holy Family, stewardship in the form using time and talent to provide meaningful arts experiences for Holy Family parishioners is expected.

For photos of the Summer 2019 program, see the slideshow on our main page or see the posts on our Facebook page.Holy Family Office of Religious Education is collaborating with the Theology of the Body Ministry to offer a fresh experience this summer to kids ages 11-17. This program includes Theology of the Body, St. Pope John Paul II's landmark and revolutionary series of addresses, which has been reworked into a curriculum appropriate for older middle schoolers and all high schoolers. Kids will consider the question "Who am I?" and discover its answer-- each one's true identity, purpose, meaning of relationships, and effects of actions. A Parent Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at 7PM in the Parish Hall. This meeting is for parents whose children will be attending this program. Parents who haven't yet decided and want more information should also attend this meeting. Our 10-day program is offered weekdays from June 10-21 from 10:00-2:00. Answers to FAQ:
Saint Pope John Paul II is well-known, respected, and loved by people of all ages, nationalities, and religious affiliations because of his honest bearing that exudes thoughtfulness and joy, holiness and piety, as seen in the photos included in the slideshow above. Before he was named a saint or chosen as a pope, Father Karol Wojtyla spent time with youth, teaching them and shepherding them on their spiritual journeys. Much of this time was spent outside doing something else simultaneously. He always aimed to make a connection first, whether it was between him and another age group, or his heritage and another culture. Inspired by this gentle approach to faith formation, we will supplement the structure of the Theology of the Body's curriculum with exploratory activities that allow participants to immediately personalize and put into practice the concepts covered in the chapter of the day. Our typical daily schedule will look like this: 9:45-10:00 = drop off ~~ parents must walk pre-teens and teens into the building 10:00-11:30 = Theology of the Body Middle School Edition DVD, workbook, discussion, activities from Teacher Manual ~~ one chapter a day 11:30-12:15 = Salsa instruction (dance), learning and practicing how to interact within a group of peers, how to treat members of the opposite sex, acceptable touching and body language 12:15-12:45 = lunch break 12:45-1:15 = Supplemental activities related to the theme of the day, opportunities to start practicing the concepts we've learned (examples include discovering "my" unique qualities, pinpointing my fashion style and learning to adapt it (if necessary) according to the concept of modesty, analyzing lyrics in light of love vs. using, how to read body language) 1:15-2:00 = Reflection, goal-setting, prayer 2:00 = pick up~~ parents must come into the building to pick up their kids Registration opens March 4, 2019. No registrations will be taken from 4:00-7:00.
Read the revised Parent Handbook carefully and make note of important changes. Fill out all required forms and return with tuition as soon as possible but no later than May 11, 2019. Monday 1-8pm Tuesday 1-5pm and 6:45-8pm Wednesday 1-5pm and 6:45-8pm Thursday 1-8pm Friday 9:00-4:00 Thank you for making every effort to follow these guidelines.
